Exact-route selection
Select the API route explicitly and inspect its current tier. Review upstream versions and pool membership separately: the route ID is stable, not a guarantee of frozen model weights.

Tier 2 planned for Q1 2027
Plan your workload on NI-owned Canadian hardware, without a US cloud provider.
Start with the permitted data, the provider boundary and the evidence your organization needs. Northern Inference provides infrastructure controls and request metadata; your team approves the workload, contracts and clinical use.
Select the API route explicitly and inspect its current tier. Review upstream versions and pool membership separately: the route ID is stable, not a guarantee of frozen model weights.
Live Tier 3 routes select Canadian provider regions. NI records its selected path; provider documentation and contracts govern execution inside the provider.
Inspect the recorded route, provider and jurisdiction for a request. Attach NI's path evidence to your assessment alongside provider terms and your own validation.
Detected identifiers in supported English text messages can be substituted before dispatch. Review detection limits and retained substitution audit records; this control is not guaranteed anonymization.
Set content-debug controls and review retained operational metadata before using sensitive information. PII substitution has its own audit data, and provider retention rules also apply.
Review sourced training and retention information for the selected route. Assess each separately: no training and zero retention are different properties. Tier 4 includes US and global boundaries.
Review current models and routes. Custody evidence describes NI's recorded path; provider evidence governs operations inside the provider.
Evaluate live capabilities today. Planned capabilities describe the roadmap and require a separate availability discussion.

Health information custodians retain responsibility for safeguards and appropriate use under PHIPA. The Ontario IPC provides PIA guidance for assessing systems. NI route and custody information can inform that review.
The Quebec privacy regulator describes an assessment and written agreement before communicating information outside Quebec. A Canadian route can still leave Quebec. Your counsel determines the applicable health-sector, public-sector and private-sector rules.
Where PIPEDA applies, the federal privacy regulator places accountability on the transferring organization. Review provider terms and data-use disclosures alongside NI controls.
Your legal and risk teams determine the applicable requirements and approve the proposed use.
Validate these potential workflows with synthetic or appropriately de-identified material first. Clinicians and authorized staff review every output before it informs a record or a decision.
Draft notes or discharge summaries from approved source material, with clinician verification before anything enters the record.
Prepare correspondence and coding or billing narratives for qualified staff to review. Keep care and eligibility decisions with authorized people.
Summarize literature and query approved policies. Verify citations, source permissions and factual accuracy.
